A study of Taping Therapy In Labor and Delivery

Abstract
Purpose :The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of taping therapy from the view of the primipara¡¯s having easy laboring(Sunsan). In this study, both total time and mode of labor were observed.

Methods :The 58 primipara who have visited to deliver on due in department of ObGy in Bundang CHA Hospital from October, 2002 to September, 2003 divided to two groups, experimental(N=30) and control(N=28). The members in the experimental group have taken the (subcutaneous) taping therapy on Acupoints in the accelation phrase in labor process I. The members in the control group was selected by random sampling within the same period. Then we estimated total necessary time from the activation phase to the full stage and followed up the pattern of labor, NSVD and C-sec. The general data were collected that were age, height, weight, past history etc, and the data reflecting the rate of the labor that Bishop score, NST, Apagar score, breakage of the amnion in labor.

Results :The duration of labor of the experimental group was 227.2 33.1(min) and that was 240 35.7(min) in control group, then there was no significant difference in two groups, irrespective of the slight reduction of time. In respect of mode of delivery, there were 19 childbirth on NSVD(Sunsan) of 30 in the experimental group comparing to the 16 childbirth on C-sec(Nansan) of 28 in the control group. Also there was no significant difference in two groups.

Conclusion :According to the above result, the taping therapy was not effective more than control group to help primipara to give easy birth.
